The law limits my ability to find gainful employment or volunteering my time. Affected the most include people with disabilities, low-income (SSI) and seniors and families. Safety nets and services like community centers wil be shut down along with changes to Medicaid – which are still unknown impact.

Companies that utilize labor were the worst offendors – with factories overworking employees claiming they were working for slave-wages.

The big bucking bill would require those on Medicaid to work regardless of a wage. (this is only 1 part of the bill that was passed. It is currently the law an going into full effect in 2027) – with new reporting requirements.
Immigration is part of this. Citizenship is a part of this. With a felony you have no voting rights.

Mental ability has been a litmus test whether you were feeble minded (ie a full human being) eligible for any help or if the law even applied to your person.

In New York State we have Prop 1 which provides many protections and will be most likely to be under attack.

The lead-up to the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom (1963) required coordination and a plan for outreach. (In today’s world, Media and Money)

The mission in 1963 was
First envisioned in 1941.This march was over 20years in the making.
Central was addressing racial inequalities created by the social safety nets after World War 2 and the New Deal. (and yet these programs are still needed)

The fight for civil rights (voting) were combined for greater gains, momentum and strength.

A quarter of a million in DC in 1963 brings enough attention in those days to move the country. enough to pass both the Civil Rights Act (1964) and Voting Rights Act (1965) which addressed different forms of racial discrimination.

The Presidential election is in 2028. State and Local are on going.

GET OUT THE VOTE!

!Related …

Governor Hochul Unveils Devastating Impacts of Republicans’ ‘Big Ugly Bill’ on New York State

by Tommy Hom, updated 8/23/2026 to include related links and the original bill The Big Beautiful Bill passed and is the law.
