On February 14, 2018, seventeen people were shot and killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.. In the wake of this tragedy, a group of surviving students turned their grief into action. They refused to accept silence or inaction as the norm. Together, they organized the historic March For Our Lives protest, brought over a million people into the streets, and helped ignite one of the largest youth-led movements in American history.

March For Our Lives works to educate, engage, and mobilize young people into sustained action that challenges the systems enabling gun violence. The organization believes in creating a future where young people inherit a nation free from violence, where the systems that profit from and perpetuate it are dismantled, and where safety is valued above industry profit.

From a tragedy that shattered their community, these students built a movement that spoke to millions. They demanded accountability, challenged power, and showed the world what youth leadership looks like. Their courage laid the foundation for everything March For Our Lives is today.

Quite a number of other movements supported the Rally in Washington DC in 2018. Since then, March for Our Lives has had success in a number state legislature votes. Increased turnout in youth voter registration. Voting being one of the major first steps in activism and advocacy for youth.
